Soprano
Scottish-Australian soprano Jenna Robertson's performed opera roles include title roles in La traviata (Albany Entertainment Centre, WA, Opera New England NSW), Massenet's Manon and Anna Bolena (OperaBox WA), Nedda Pagliacci (NIDA Festival of Emerging Artists, Sydney), Zerbinetta Ariadne auf Naxos, Gilda Rigoletto, Gretel Hänsel & Gretel (OperaBox WA), Laetitia The Old Maid and the Thief (Perth FRINGE WORLD Festival), Lauretta Gianni Schicchi (Cuskelly College of Music Summer Opera, QLD), Cunegonde Candide, Mabel Pirates of Penzance and Christine Phantom of the Opera. Jenna performed with West Australian Opera from 2013-2016 in productions of La traviata, Madama Butterfly, Otello, Faust and The Elixir of Love.
In 2021, she returned to her beloved Violetta in September for the Albany Entertainment Centre in WA opposite Australia’s premier baritone José Carbó and one of Australia's leading tenors Paul O'Neill. She performed as a soloist in the Brisbane Music Festival in April and the World Science Festival Brisbane in March. In 2022 and 2023, she continues working on the creation and performance of her new works (see Portfolio section). Jenna is a Doctor of Musical Arts candidate at the Queensland Conservatorium Griffith University. Her debut album Unravelling the Voice will be released in 2023.
In 2020, Jenna debuted the role of Lauretta in Gianni Schicchi in Brisbane and made her debut as a soloist with the Willoughby Symphony Orchestra in Sydney. In July she featured in Opera Queensland's An Aria A Day series, and made her debut as a soloist in the 2020 Brisbane Music Festival Streaming Series in a solo recital titled Around the World with Alex Raineri in September.
Jenna has appeared as soloist for the Willoughby Symphony Orchestra, Perth Symphony Orchestra, Metropolitan Symphony Orchestra, South Side Symphony Orchestra, Albany Chamber Orchestra, Perth Pops Orchestra, Albany Sinfonia and the Perth Guitar Quartet in works including Jenkins The Armed Man, Faure Requiem, Mozart Requiem, Vivaldi Gloria, Handel Messiah and selected items in Orff Carmina Burana.
In recital, Jenna has performed as soloist in the Brisbane Music Festival, Hunters Hill Music in Sydney, Music Appreciation Group in Gold Coast and in WA: the MetSO Soloists Concert Series, the W. A. Mozarteum Summer Festival, Art Song Perth, Music Amica, Opera Lovers WA. In Scotland, she performed in the Aberdeen International Youth Festival Finale Concert in Aberdeen's His Majesty's Theatre.
Jenna graduated from Heriot-Watt University, Edinburgh with a MEng in Chemical Engineering and received a singing scholarship for the duration of her studies providing tuition and performance opportunities. She was an Associate Artist as part of the 2019 Pacific Opera Young Artist Program in Sydney and in 2014, she was awarded a place in the Opera Studio at the American Institute of Musical Studies (AIMS) in Graz, Austria with partial scholarship. In July 2013, she received first place in the Australian Concerto and Vocal Competition - Vocal Section in QLD.
